English book review

Format of (English) book review:

The format given is to offer a summary of the book and then touch on 1 issue of the book, eg, was the villain really that evil or was the hero/heroine really who the author touted him/her to be or the ending of the book or the fate of one of the characters in the book, etc, etc. So basically this is a reflection section and we have a grand total of 2 parts.
** IN ENGLISH = DO A SUMMARY AND REFLECTION
*** If you guys don't get it, please read it again and again 8D I think it'll sink into your brain somehow.

^^^ That's from Mrs Seah. Last week I emailed her about the format for the english book review and she only got back to me this morning. :D She told me to "spread it round to other clueless people" so here I am just in case you were wondering why I'm so random to come and post here. Hahaaaaaa. Hope the format of book review helps anyway. :)

Okie here's the list of holiday hw.

Eng:
-> 2 book/movie reviews

- You can choose either 2 book reviews or 1 book + 1 movie review.
- You can't do 2 movie reviews (cos' of the 3rd hw)
Word limit is 250 to 300 words.
To be typed or handwritten.

-> 1 compo chosen from the following list:

1. The day we had no water.
2. Write about one person who has had a huge influence in your life. How did this person change you?
3. Write about a time when your blind faith in a friend caused you to make some serious mistakes.
4. Write a story based on one of the following:
a) An unfair punishment
b) 'After the accident, she seemed to be a completely different person'.
5. Work hard, play hard. What do you think of this attitude towards life?
6. Are rich children always happier than those who come from poorer families?
7. "Students' failure is the fault of their parents." Do you agree?
8. Grandparents

- Compos are marked according to the GCE 'O' lvl Eng Language marking rubrics.
- Compos may be handwritten or typewritten but you are warned that you will be penalised for using informal internet language or inconsistency in spelling arising as a a result of automated spell check.

-> Design a poster to promote a book from the 1st hw.

- You are to design a poster to promote the book/one of the books you have reviewed in the 1st hw.
- The target audience for the poster will be your classmates.
- You are to note what will interest and attract your classmates and include the relevant info in the poster.
- You can do your design on A4 blank paper/coloured paper/any paper you want.

Note: All holiday hw will be marked and grades will count towards 15% of CA2. Mrs Seah is not responsible for chasing you to submit your work in Term 3 & you will be penalised accordingly if you fail to hand in any of the work.

Back from camp, CNY deco

Hi~
Broke camp yesterday hor, hope everyone had fun in the camp :D
And rest well! I bet most of the class was tired out. Gah.
But anyway I personally thought that the camp was really fruitful for the whole class as you could see the class slowly bonding ^^ Such as all of us standing up on our boats during kayaking with linked arms and all that la. And we won 'Best Class' (or something) during campfire leh, hahahahahah hope all of you are proud of yourselves! :D

Anyway thanks to those who stayed back to help out with the notice board for the CNY deco. Aiya even if you didn't help also nvm, got stay back can le. At least you bothered staying back :P
Okay here are the people; Alissa, Andrea, Jessica, Kelvin, Jeffery, Pearlie, Celester, Emelia, Huangui, Chester, Simgeok, Martin, me. Eh wait I didn't take any photos so I'm not sure who stayed so correct me if I missed out anyone hor. Anyway thanks again ah.

Hope we can complete everything by tomolo so wish us all luck! We'd need it ah.
And also, that we can win first prize :D Hahahahaha.

CNY decoration for notice board

Hello :)

Thanks to all those who helped out with the notice board for Chinese New Year decoration along with certain members of the NE Commitee!
Those who were present were: Andrea, Celester, Chester, Xinjie, Huangui, Shicheng, Liwen, Jeffery, Charmaine, Peixuan, Emelia, Martin, Bryan and Yeeyi. Oh yah and me LOL HAHAH. Do tell me if I missed out anyone :D
Hope everybody who participated today enjoyed it~
Also, thanks to everyone who contributed to the recycled materials ^^ They were of great help and covered the whole of the notice board! Once again thanks everybody!
We'd be doing up the board again next Thursday so do join us if you happen to be free on that day :)

Got any ideas? Please kindly share them with either Simgeok, Bryan, Shicheng or Andrea (members of the NE Commitee). They are short of ideas at the moment and would really appreciate some from the class :D

Yes, Shicheng is the rubbish lady digging through the bin... KIDDING! :D I think she's looking for extra materials we can reuse for the decoration of the board :) Heehee.
