Format of (English) book review:The format given is to offer a summary of the book and then touch on 1 issue of the book, eg, was the villain really that evil or was the hero/heroine really who the author touted him/her to be or the ending of the book or the fate of one of the characters in the book, etc, etc. So basically this is a reflection section and we have a grand total of 2 parts. ** IN ENGLISH = DO A SUMMARY AND REFLECTION *** If you guys don't get it, please read it again and again 8D I think it'll sink into your brain somehow. ^^^ That's from Mrs Seah. Last week I emailed her about the format for the english book review and she only got back to me this morning. :D She told me to "spread it round to other clueless people" so here I am just in case you were wondering why I'm so random to come and post here. Hahaaaaaa. Hope the format of book review helps anyway. :) Amanda P.S. Do help to spread word of this post just in case people go bang wall in frustration (kidding)/run off to Mrs Seah again and she'll think I'm not doing my job okay! :P Haha. P.S.S. Eng: -> 2 book/movie reviews - You can choose either 2 book reviews or 1 book + 1 movie review. - You can't do 2 movie reviews (cos' of the 3rd hw) Word limit is 250 to 300 words. To be typed or handwritten. -> 1 compo chosen from the following list: 1. The day we had no water. 2. Write about one person who has had a huge influence in your life. How did this person change you? 3. Write about a time when your blind faith in a friend caused you to make some serious mistakes. 4. Write a story based on one of the following: a) An unfair punishment b) 'After the accident, she seemed to be a completely different person'. 5. Work hard, play hard. What do you think of this attitude towards life? 6. Are rich children always happier than those who come from poorer families? 7. "Students' failure is the fault of their parents." Do you agree? 8. Grandparents - Compos are marked according to the GCE 'O' lvl Eng Language marking rubrics. - Compos may be handwritten or typewritten but you are warned that you will be penalised for using informal internet language or inconsistency in spelling arising as a a result of automated spell check. -> Design a poster to promote a book from the 1st hw. - You are to design a poster to promote the book/one of the books you have reviewed in the 1st hw. - The target audience for the poster will be your classmates. - You are to note what will interest and attract your classmates and include the relevant info in the poster. - You can do your design on A4 blank paper/coloured paper/any paper you want. Note: All holiday hw will be marked and grades will count towards 15% of CA2. Mrs Seah is not responsible for chasing you to submit your work in Term 3 & you will be penalised accordingly if you fail to hand in any of the work. Maths: -> 'Word Problems on Simultaneous Equations' wksht - Q1, 3, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 16, 18, 19, 21, 22,24, 26, 28 -> Ace-Learning (idk which one so dun ask me also :/) -> Maths txtbk 2A pg 153 Q13, 14, 16 Science: -> Design a poster/brochure to educate the public on Pulau Semakau - Size: A3, drawing block size (for poster) Any dimensions, preferably A4 size when unfolded (for brochure) - Info to be found: History of PS, PS as a landfill, importance of recycling and reducing waste, PS as an eco-park & brief intro to some of the flora and fauna found. - List of useful websites: #1, #2, #3 HCL: -> 随笔 (do on the paper) -> 剪报 (do on the paper) -> 阅读报告 (do on the paper) - the rest of the info, refer to the paper given. i lazy type.
